The Essentials
Bag – Make sure to use a comfy, lightweight backpack, fanny pack, or crossbody bag, perfect for carrying your daily essentials.
Comfortable Shoes – You’ll be walking a lot! Wear supportive, comfortable shoes and if you get new shoes for the occasion, make sure you break them in beforehand.
Reusable Water Bottle - Stay hydrated! Save money on buying countless water bottles at the concession stands and use the free refreshment stations throughout the park.
Portable Chargers – Between Lightning Lanes, mobile ordering, and snapping photos, your phone will need backup power. You don't want a dead phone to ruin your magical day.
Fans (Portable/Misting) – Florida or California sun? Enough said. Personal fans can be a lifesaver on those hot days. I use mine every time in the hot summer months!
First Aid Kit:
- Band-Aids/Blister Band-Aids
- Pain relievers
- Tums/Pepto
- Allergy Meds
- Motion Sickness Meds.
Believe me you'll need at LEAST on of these items and it's GOING to save the day.
Sunscreen – Apply before you enter and reapply throughout the day.
Hand Sanitizer – Post-ride and bathroom clean-ups and pre-snack hand cleaning to stay germ free!
Chapstick (with SPF) – Don’t forget your lips—sunburn here hurts!
Travel Deodorant – Not necessary for everyone, but I personally love a freshen-up, especially since you can spend 12+ hours at the parks!
Disposable Tooth Brushes/Tooth Picks – It's long days at the parks and whether it's a lingering taste or an unruly popcorn kernel you'll be happy to have these on hand.
Gum – Disney doesn’t sell gum in the parks, so pack your own if you want a freshen up after a snack or meal.
Tide-To-Go Stick - If you're prone to food accidents like me, this will be a game changer when you unavoidably get chocolate fudge on your brand-new Disney shirt.
Snacks – Keep a few granola bars, trail mix, or fruit snacks handy to avoid hangry meltdowns. These always occur when waiting in a long line and no concession in sight. Be prepared!
Additionals
Poncho – Going to Disney World? These are a must. A foldable poncho takes up little space and keeps you dry. Use these at Disneyland when the weather is iffy or to keep dry on Tiana's Bayou Adventure.
Light Sweater/Jacket – Evenings can get chilly or indoor attractions may be cooler, you'll be happy to have a layer to keep you warm.
Disney Flair
Disney Accessories – Gotta have at LEAST one item of swag! Sport some ears, pins, themed shirts, or lanyards and show your Disney spirit in style!
MagicBands – Not a must for everyone, but I bring mine every time and love the added ease. These are more incorporated at Disney World, but I still love the convenience of using them at the California parks. Use these for easy entry, Lightning Lane access, and more, but you can certainly navigate your day without them.
💡 Pro Tip: Pack the night before and do a double check in the morning so you’re not rushing out the door. Better prepared = more time for magic!
